Audition Dates set for Fall of 2016

The dates for undergrad auditions have been set for the brass area! Auditions will be held on November 9, January 22, February 13, February 15 and February 22. Graduate auditions will be held on January 11 and January 23, 2016. Pre-screening materials for graduate applicants must be uploaded by December 1, 2015.

Two Graduate Assistantships Likely for Fall of 2016

I anticpate that the Bulldog Brass Quintet (Coached by Professor Phil Smith) Graduate Assistantship will be open for Fall of 2016. I also anticpate that there will be, for the first time, a dedicated Assistantship for a graduate euphonium player.

David McLemore Appointed as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Central Washington University

Dr. David McLemore returns to his home state of Washington to assume the duties as Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Central Washington University in Ellensburg Washington. Congrats, David!

Alum Alex Avila Wins Euphonium Artist Competition at Falcone

Alex Avila (BM14), currently a Masters student at the Unversity of Texas in Austin, recently won First Prize at the prestigious Leonard Falcone International Festival and Competition iin beautiful western Michigan. Alex was the third prize winner in 2012. His win bumps the number of UGA affiliated prizewinners to eleven since 2002.

Congrats to Fernando Deddos, New Professor of Low Brass at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte

Fernando will return to Brazil in January to assume the position of Professor of Low Brass in Natal. They are fortunate to have acquired on of the finest low brass musicians in the world! Bravo, Fernando!
